LITTLE CABIN CREEK BRIDGE

About Us

The Little Cabin Creek Bridge east of Vinita is a historic Camelback Pony Truss bridge built in 1934 and 1935 by contractors Nims and Frost. The bridge sits in an area once surrounded by pecan groves operated by the Little Cabin Pecan Company.

It originally carried Route 66 traffic across Little Cabin Creek and served travelers on US 60 and US 69 for decades. The structure spans a total of 388 feet with a 24 foot deck and includes a main span of just over 95 feet.

Frequent flooding led to its closure and a new replacement bridge was completed in 2011 next to the original. The historic bridge remains in place as a preserved landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. It stands today as a reminder of early highway engineering and the evolution of travel along the Mother Road.
