About Us

At the Dobson Museum & Home, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the story of Ottawa County—its people, industries, and communities. Operated by the Ottawa County Historical Society, our exhibits highlight local life, mining, Native American heritage, military history, and the businesses that helped shape the region, including a permanent B.F. Goodrich display.

Our campus includes the historic Dobson Home, built in 1915–1916, where original family furnishings remain in place today. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home is open for tours and offers a unique glimpse into early life in Miami.

Our museum exists thanks to the legacy of Nellie Dobson, whose estate helped establish our current facility and continues to support our mission of preserving history for future generations. Today, we’ve combined those historic collections with modern exhibits and interactive features—including a children’s area designed to engage younger visitors and bring local history to life.

Surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens, we invite you to explore, learn, and experience the rich history of Ottawa County.
