About Us
The Greetings from Cuba Missouri Postcard Mural is a modern addition to the Viva Cuba mural program, designed in the style of vintage travel postcards that once defined the American road trip. Located along Route 66, the mural captures the nostalgic spirit of mid-20th century travel, when postcards were a popular way to share experiences from the road.
Created by local artist Shelly Smith Steiger, the mural features bold lettering filled with iconic imagery from Cuba and the surrounding area, blending history, culture, and Route 66 landmarks into a single, eye-catching design. Funded in part by an Impact 100 grant, the project reflects the community’s continued investment in public art and its identity as a destination along the Mother Road.
Inspired by the classic “Greetings From…” postcards made popular during the highway boom of the 1930s through 1950s, the mural connects past and present—bringing the tradition of road trip storytelling back to life in a fresh, visual way.
